Study Visa
Sirsma Immigration Services Inc. aids international students to get study permits/visas for various Designated Learning Institutes in Canada and in extending existing study permits. A student can acquire a study visa either through fulfilling Direct Stream Requirements or Regular Stream Requirements.
A study permit is required if:
• Duration of the program is more than six months
• A Co-op or internship is required in the program.
• A minor is accompanied by a parent(s) who is a visitor to Canada
Direct Stream Requirements
To acquire a study permit an international student needs following being a legal resident of China, India, Morocco, Pakistan, the Philippines, Senegal, and Vietnam:
- Medical exam confirmation.
- Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of $10,000 from a Canadian Financial Institution
- Proof of paid tuition fees for the first year of study.
- Graduated from a Canadian high school or submit language test results (IEL TS band score 6 / TEF CLB7)
- Acceptance Letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada.
Regular Stream Requirements
- Valid passport or travel document.
- Proof of financial support including enough money to pay for tuition, living and return travel expenses for the student and family members (if applicable).
- Police certificate and medical examination might be required.
- Acceptance Letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada.
International students can also work 20 hr/week during academic sessions and full-time during holidays. They need to have a valid study permit, Social Insurance Number (SIN) in Canada. They must be enrolled full-time at a designated Canadian postsecondary institution (ESL/FSL/General interest/Preparatory programs not eligible) and their program must be at least 6 months in duration.
